Partquip was established in 1983 and since then has grown to become a leading importer and distributor of quality guaranteed Auto Parts to the Southern Africa motor spares aftermarket industry.
Partquip has a staff complement of some 220 employees situated at branches located in Johannesburg (Head Office), Durban and Cape Town. The company prides itself on “EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE”, which is evident by their recent ISO 9001 accreditation. Partquip also exports to our neighboring countries, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, and Zambia.
The product range includes over 5000 part numbers and is constantly growing to meet the needs of the ever-changing automotive aftermarket spare parts industry.
Partquip has been a longtime user of the SYSPRO software product. Over the years their version of SYSPRO fell behind. This was partly because they had built a number of customizations around SYSPRO. One key customization was a warehousing scanning solution. In 2016 the company recognized that the systems had become dated and a major upgrade was needed. A number of ERP solutions where considered but in the end, the company felt confirmed to stick with SYSPRO but to re-implement completely and at the same time to implement a new WMS solution.
SYSPRO South Africa approached us to assist them with the WMS needs.
The project took some 4 months of preparation by the SYSPRO and DATASCOPE teams. Partquip has 3 separate companies with sites in 5 locations so it was clearly understood that the go-live would be tough. It’s hard to implement an ERP system in a multi-site environment like this but its a lot harder to implement both an ERP system and a WMS system at the same time.
The project went live in August 2017. The go-live week was slow and fairly difficult, however, over the next 8 weeks the site was slowly bedded down and operations got back to normal. We look forward to working with Partquip into 2018 to start leveraging the benefits of DATASCOPE WMS.
